Silken Windhounds are capable of taking you anywhere you wish on your adventures in life. In the United States, Silkens currently appear in the conformation show rings of the International Silken Windhound Society, the breed's parent organization; the North American Kennel Club (NAKC formerly known as "Rarities"); National Canine Association (NCA); and the International All Breed Canine Association (IABCA). The Silken Windhound has recently been accepted by the United Kennel Club (UKC) which is the oldest kennel club in the United States and Silkens are now eligible to participate in all UKC events. There are many venues in Europe and other parts of the world where Silkens are also welcome in the conformation ring. If you are located outside the United States or are looking for conformation opportunities outside the US, we suggest that you go to the Links page, which will provide you with information on Silken organizations in other parts of the world. Silken Windhounds need not participate in organized events to be happy and fulfilled. There are many Silkens thriving and happy beyond measure in their roles as family pets.

NWSWS HOSTED EVENTS
The North West Silken Windhound Society has increased its annual events by leaps and bounds since our first UKC breed specialities. We now host multiple weekends of all breed or multi-breed UKC conformation shows.
Early in August of each year, we host a weekend of four shows. These shows have been varying a bit in location in order to make it fairer for all exhibitors. The 2017 AUGUST shows will likely be held near OLYMPIA, WASHINGTON.
In mid-October we have been hosting four conformation shows along side the Puget Sound K9s Agility Trials at Argus Ranch for Dogs in Auburn, Washington.
AND, as a "Farewell" to one year and an enthusiastic "Hello" to the next, we host a four day, eight show series on dates bridging the two years. The 2016 Year End Bash will be held DECEMBER 29, 2016 THROUGH JANUARY 1, 2016. These shows bring lots of fun with them, including optional show clothes"themed" days. For 2016 we have: Thursday, December 29th is Hawaiian or Luau/Tropical, where we are all wishing for a few balmy, tropical weather days. Friday, December 30th is a salute to those bygone days when people 'dressed up' to do everything, with a Formal Wear theme. (People can go all out from full formal wear, to just one item.) December 31st, NEW YEAR'S EVE -- we simply HAD to re-do last year's success with a pajama party dress theme. Last year we had judges who wore their PJs to judge dogs who's handlers were in PJs. The creative juices were flowing on this one as we had everything from Unicorns to Hunters to Super heroes. (I must applaud all the dogs who took it all in stride without batting an eye!) Then New Year's Day, we opt for the Football or Parade Fan with exhibitors (and judges) dressed in either type of gear. Last year we even had a couple of referees (with whistles) show up. OF COURSE, standard show wear is ALWAYS APPROPRIATE. These are just themed dress options if you prefer.
